MaehoTakaDake makes the 5th summit I've climbed in the Japanese Alps so far. Being the hardest and most technical of all, it took me and my climbing partner two days to do it.
We started climbing from Kamikouchi Monday July 4th at 7 am through Dakesawa trail. It took us 3 hours to get to the first and only stop, Dakesawa Hut where we spent the night.
The next day we started climbing the hard part at 6 am. we got to the summit around 11 am, had our lunch boxes there, then started climbing down to Dakesawa Hut, then back to Kamikouchi around 4 pm.
There was a sign at the start of the climb warning people that this climb is for experts only, and I agree, I questioned myself if I could do some scary parts at time!!
If you decide to go, I recommend you do easier summits before to get a sense of how technical and hard the Japanese Alps are.
But anyway, I strongly recommend climbing the Alps even once in your time here in Japan <3
Feather Legs Outdoors Kamakura organized few hiking and Yoga events to welcome spring and spread the love and joy of being in nature with its spreading family.
Our guide is constantly looking for new trails around Kamakura. Trails that are both beautiful and wild. In our latest events, we took our new friends on a mini retreat, we did yoga, meditation and hiked an old beautiful and wild Bamboo trail.
In the end of each event, everyone, including us, was happy and satisfied after a good and healthy workout.
We can't wait to do more outdoor events with you all.
Special thanks to everyone who could join our events this month, we are forever grateful to your smiles and big heart.
This event was one of the best so far. For the first time we go hiking with children. And for the first time these kids went hiking as well.
It was for sure an exciting experience for all. We walked 8 km and none of the children once complained! they were instead happy and excited running around and asking me which way should they go, holding my hands when they want to jump and hope like bunnies. Children are truly a bless.
We started our hike walking toward Zeniarai Benten where we took a small break, washed coins, watched colorful pond fish called "Coy" in Japanese, and then prayed for an abundant fruitful year.
we then kept going uphill toward Genjiyama park where I organized an Easter Party. We started dancing on "Here come Peter Cottontail", played I Spy colorful eggs, then went on an Egg Hunt. We concluded our fun at the park having a picnic-lunch.
After lunch, we resumed our hike, this time for the Bamboo Forest. The mothers loved that place and asked me if we could stay and enjoy the bamboos for a while. We spent our time there playing "Hide and Seek" and "Duck Duck Goose" games. It was truly so much fun for us all.
After enjoying the bamboo forests and meeting other children also playing around. We resumed our hike through the Bamboo forest and back to Kamakura City where we all had Ice-creams and snacks.
I am truly forever grateful for the mothers and their children for joining Feather Legs' event. I'll be waiting for them to come again next month <3
Hope more of you can join as well!
Kamakura has a wide range of beautiful hiking trails. Here is a video to give you all an idea of what Feather Legs Hiking trails' choices look like :) Winter is over! hiking is getting much more fun :) come and join us.
I took the chance of the warm and beautiful weather today to spend the day hiking between Kamakura and Yokohama.
I was surprised to see how beautiful these yet unexplored hiking trails are, and I'm surely happy and lucky that I decided to push myself harder and walk further! Not one time I felt tired or bored along my 18 Km journey today :)
I started my hike at the "Dance Lion" hiking trail up to Ten-En, then I kept on going toward Kanazawa-Buko trail to Omaru-Yama, a small mountain top with a view on Yokohama city and its bay. After that I hiked toward Segami Community Woods which were truly breath taking. I circled back to Kanaza-Bunko Natural Park for a beautiful hike full of squirrels. Once back to Ten-En, I went to have Nigiri and Tofu at the mountain's rest house where I met three young people from Vanada, London, and Australia. We ended up finishing the hike together and going to Hachimangu Temples.
My day was awesome, feeling free, healthy, strong, and happy! Nature truly does amazing things to those who know how to respect and enjoy it.
Cycling to Enoshima took only 20 minutes. It was warm and sunny, and the wind was calm so the ride was smooth.
Once at Enoshima, we toured the island, visited its beautiful and culturally rich cave, and then had lunch at one of Enoshima's local restaurant with a beautiful view on the ocean. The huge hawks were all around which was very entertaining.
We all had fun for sure, I made new friends who expressed satisfaction and will to join our activities again soon and I'm surely looking forward to seeing all of them again soon.
You guys were awesome! thank you for coming and making our activities more enjoyable with your positiveness and smiles :)
February 24th event went beautifully well.
We were blessed with beautiful people who share our love and appreciation to mother nature. The vegetarian food was delicious, and the owner of the rest house was very happy to welcome and cook for us. We had the chance to barbecue mushrooms, have a delicious vegetables Nabe, various sorts of Tofu and Onigiri.
I personally had fun as well, showing nature lovers around Kamakura's trails, observing squirrels and talking about trees, seasons, plants and historical sites along the trail was truly fun! I love my job, but I love Feather Leg's growing family even more <3
Thank you everyone and we hope to see you again soon!
We had fun exploring around the Dancing Lion, Ten-en, Kenchouji Temples and Daibutsu hiking trails today.
Feeling grateful that our new friends were truly happy hiking with us. We are happy and delighted to have such free spirited people joining us. Thank you girls <3
Words and pictures cannot describe how beautiful the hiking trails were today around Kamakura. After an all night snowfall, the trails were incredibly amazing!
I took my camera and went on a solo quest of beauty, freedom and happiness. I did Ten-En trail where no one was around, but lucky me I met another solo hiker from London and we ended up hiking and enjoying the trail together. We saw so many happy squirrels.
I was truly happy and very much in contact with nature <3
We were blessed with a beautiful and productive day, inspiring women and perfect weather along Ten-en hiking course in Kamakura today.
We started our hike from Kamakura station at 9 am today, we climbed up to Genjiyama where we had a 40 min Yoga and Meditation practice, then we took on a longer hike through Kita Kamakura's Kenchouji Temples all the way to Ten-en hiking course where we found beautiful spiritual caves filled with statues.
We did in total about 9 km hiking course and we were back to the station around 1 pm.
We are forever grateful to all the amazing people joining us on our quest of a healthy life style, peace and serenity, love and smiles, falling every time even deeper in love with mother nature.
Thank you all for everything :)
